Privacy policy

1. About us

Last updated: 29 October 2026.

Eye Catching Italian is operated by Emphasys AB (organization number 559255-8109), Forskarbacken 5, 114 15 Stockholm, Sweden.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information when you visit our websites, subscribe to our emails or use our learning products and services.

Emphasys AB is responsible for the processing of personal information described in this policy.

For privacy-related questions, contact alex@eyecatchingitalian.com.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with Eye Catching Italian, we may collect:

  • Contact information: Such as your email address when you subscribe, join a waitlist or create an account.
  • Account information: Information needed to authenticate you, manage your account and provide access to our services.
  • Learning activity: Your progress, completed exercises and other information needed to provide or improve your learning experience.
  • Website usage information: Information about how you interact with our websites, including technical information about your browser and device.
  • Marketing and attribution information: Information about how you discovered us, such as referral sources, campaigns and advertisements, where available and permitted.

We receive information directly from you, through your use of our services, and from third-party platforms you choose to interact with, such as email signup forms or social media messaging services.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, maintain and improve our websites, learning products and services.
  • Manage accounts, authentication and saved learning progress.
  • Deliver newsletters, educational resources, updates and offers you have requested.
  • Manage subscriptions, waitlists and customer relationships.
  • Understand how people discover and use Eye Catching Italian, and measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
  • Personalize communications and improve the relevance of our content.
  • Maintain security, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations.

We process personal information only where we have an appropriate legal basis under the GDPR.

Depending on the activity, this may include your consent, the performance of a contract or service you request, our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving our business, or compliance with a legal obligation.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, these include maintaining a secure service, understanding business performance and providing relevant communications, subject to your rights and applicable legal requirements.

4. Newsletters and marketing communications

When you subscribe to our newsletter or request a free resource, we use your email address to provide the requested content and related communications.

We use Kit to manage email subscriptions, confirmation emails and marketing communications. We may also use services such as ManyChat to manage interactions and signups through social media.

Newsletter subscriptions may require email confirmation. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in our emails or by contacting us.

Creating an Eye Catching Italian learning account does not automatically subscribe you to our newsletter.

Where appropriate, we may use limited information about your learning milestones to make communications more relevant to existing newsletter subscribers. We do not share detailed exercise answers or complete learning records with our email marketing provider.

You can object to the use of your personal information for direct marketing at any time.

5. Learning products and accounts

Some Eye Catching Italian learning experiences, including Visual 50, can be used without creating an account.

To remember your progress, we may store learning information locally in your browser.

If you choose to create an account, we use your email address and account information to provide authentication, saved progress and other account-related features.

We use Supabase for authentication and cloud-based account services, and supporting providers such as Resend for transactional emails.

Information required to provide these features is processed as part of delivering the service you request.

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information, subject to applicable legal requirements. Deleting a learning account does not automatically unsubscribe you from separate marketing communications.

6. Cookies and website analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our websites, remember preferences and, where permitted, understand how our services are used.

Some technologies are necessary for essential functionality, including security, authentication, saving preferences and maintaining learning progress.

Optional technologies may include:

Analytics: We use PostHog to understand website usage and improve our learning experiences. Where required, this tracking is activated only after you accept Analytics cookies.

Marketing: We use technologies such as the Meta Pixel and, where applicable, ManyChat tracking to measure advertising and understand engagement. On Visual 50, these technologies are activated only after you accept Marketing cookies.

Optional Analytics and Marketing tracking on Visual 50 is disabled by default.

You can change or withdraw your choices through the website's Cookie settings. These choices do not prevent you from using the essential learning features.

Cookie preferences on Visual 50 do not automatically control separate Kit landing pages or newsletter subscription records.

7. Advertising and attribution

We may use information about how visitors discover Eye Catching Italian to understand which marketing activities lead to newsletter subscriptions, engagement and purchases.

This may include campaign identifiers, referral information and signup records, where available and lawfully processed.

We may associate this information with relevant subscription or customer records to evaluate marketing performance over time.

When you permit advertising tracking on our websites, advertising partners such as Meta may receive information about visits and selected interactions, together with certain browser or device information.

We do not intentionally share your detailed learning answers, passwords or authentication codes with advertising platforms.

A server-side Meta Conversions API integration for confirmed Visual 50 Kit newsletter subscriptions has been built but is currently disabled. It is not transmitting confirmed-newsletter Meta Leads or hashed subscriber email addresses to Meta. Existing first-party processing of Kit newsletter webhook events and available signup attribution is separate from these disabled Meta transmissions. The server-side integration is also separate from the optional browser Meta Pixel controlled by Marketing cookie preferences. Any future activation is a separate decision requiring an appropriate legal basis and privacy safeguards. If activated in the future, reporting could involve limited conversion details and a hashed version of a subscriber's email address; hashing does not make the address anonymous.

8. Sharing information with service providers

We work with trusted third-party providers that help us operate our business and deliver our services.

These may include website hosting providers, Supabase, Kit, Resend, Cloudflare, PostHog, ManyChat and Meta, depending on the services you use and your applicable privacy choices.

These providers may process information on our behalf or act as separate data controllers for certain activities.

We do not sell your personal information.

We share personal information only where necessary for the purposes described in this policy or otherwise permitted or required by law.

9. International data transfers

Some of our service providers may process information outside Sweden or the European Economic Area.

Where international transfers occur, we apply the protections required by applicable data protection law, which may include adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or other appropriate safeguards.

You may contact us for further information about relevant transfers and safeguards.

10. How long we keep information

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

For example:

  • Newsletter information is generally retained while you remain subscribed, with limited records potentially retained to respect unsubscribe requests.
  • Account information and saved progress are generally retained while your account remains active, unless deletion is requested or other retention requirements apply.
  • Analytics, marketing and security information is retained according to the relevant purpose, applicable settings and legal requirements.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it where appropriate.

11. Your privacy rights

Under applicable data protection laws, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your information.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing activities.
  • Request a copy of certain information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.

You also have the right to object to the processing of your personal information for direct marketing.

To exercise your rights, contact alex@eyecatchingitalian.com.

You may also submit a complaint to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY) at https://www.imy.se/ or another competent supervisory authority.

12. Children's privacy

We recognize that children's personal information requires particular care.

Our learning resources may be accessible to younger users. We do not knowingly use children's personal information for behavioral advertising.

Parents or guardians may contact us with questions or requests relating to a child's personal information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Eye Catching Italian develops or as legal and technical requirements change.

When significant changes affect how personal information is processed, we will provide appropriate notice and obtain any additional consent required by law.

The latest version will be available on our websites.
